Portfolio

Priyamudan.com is a Tamil blog website my mentor Pranevan Thillainathan and I started together to encourage women in the Tamil Community to live a fulfilling life empowering and inspiring other women as well. This project will resume after enough resources to launch a full-fledged blog site that will benefit the women in our community.

I chose to include this research paper in my portfolio because it provides an example of how relevant linguistic knowledge can be in professional communication and also because it showcases the type of research I am capable of doing. This project specifically looks at the preference people have for a vocal fry. This knowledge is beneficial when we have voice-over artists for commercials or campaigns that we run. Similarly, other studies can be done to explore the likability or engagement preference for types of words, types of graphics, and types of media format to ensure that the types of projects that we deliver are aligned with the current trend.

This was the very first article I wrote which got published in a Tamil Magazine called உயிர்எழுத்து (Uyir Ezhuthu) by Rishish Kanth. With all honesty, I wrote this article as a self-help tool for myself. I was very intrigued by the idea that my internal conversations can be published as an article. Those internal conversations are what have translated to be my passion for communication.
