This is the place where I was able to bring life to my passion. I don’t recall working this hard before but I also haven’t loved doing something as much as I do with all the projects we are working on through the CCPR program. I see myself growing every day.
#Event Management
This was a project we did in groups, where the event was one of five. We had a drag show, a movie night, a trivia night, and a networking event all tied to collecting funds for a charity of our choice. My group and I wanted to raise funds for VIBE Arts through a point night.
I had two main roles on this project, content creation and budgeting. Social media content creation was something I was familiar with so working with our professor’s feedback was pretty simple. However, this was the first time I have ever taken responsibility for budgeting and I am so glad I took the opportunity to do so because it really showed me the areas I need to pay more attention to when planning an event.
With many projects going on at the same time, time management was a little hard for me, however, I had a very supportive team, to whom I could reach out when I needed help. I am glad I was able to do the same for them as well.
Overall, the execution of the event was very smooth and looked very well put together. We made sure that the guests were fulfilled in terms of refreshments and food as we knew the engagement of the crowd will be affected by hunger. I think one of our plus points was that we had a lot of raffle giveaways so a lot of people had opportunities to win something valuable when they went home. It was a proud moment to see a lot of feedback pouring in from our peers naming our event as one of their favourite events to attend.
